Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast – Origin and Developpment of Iron Metallurgy<\/h4>\n

Das 2010 von Vincent Serneels (Universit\u00e4t Fribourg) und Denis Ramseyer (Universit\u00e4t Neuch\u00e2tel) initiierte Projekt zur Erforschung der Technologiegeschichte der Eisenverarbeitung war urspr\u00fcnglich \u00fcber vier Jahre mit je einer Feldkampagne geplant. In Zusammenarbeit mit Wissenschaftlern und Studenten der Universit\u00e4ten von Ouagadougou und Abidjan wurden die ersten drei Kampagnen plangem\u00e4ss und erfolgreich durchgef\u00fchrt (siehe Jahresberichte 2011-2013). Die vierte Kampagne, urspr\u00fcnglich f\u00fcr Januar 2014 in C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire geplant, mussten die Projektleiter jedoch aus praktischen Gr\u00fcnden auf das Fr\u00fchjahr 2015 verschieben. Sie soll nach wie vor in der Region von Kaniasso in C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire von einem internationalen Team, bestehend aus vier Schweizern, 20 Kollegen aus C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, 6 aus Burkina Faso, einen Senegalesen und einem Forscher aus Benin, durchgef\u00fchrt werden. Wissenschaftliches Ziel wird es sein, diesen metallurgisch wichtigen Platz genauestens zu erforschen (topographische Aufnahme, stratigraphische Sondierungen sowie Freilegung der \u00d6fen). Dabei sollen auch junge afrikanische Studenten und Wissenschaftler ausgebildet werden.<\/p>\n

Bhutan\u00a0–\u00a0Institutionalization of Archaeology and Cooperation<\/h4>\n

After three years of intensive exchange and collective work, the teaching Phase of the Bhutan-Swiss Archaeology Project, an award ceremony under the participation of all involved Partners and stakeholders has been realized in November 2014. Certificates for the Continuing Education Program (CEP) of the University of Zurich were handed out to nine trainees in the cooperation project. This year of teaching activities (2014) also saw the completation of the Chubjakha Dzong ruin survey (see separate report in this volume), the teaching of the remaining modules in the educational program, and the publication of vol. 3 of the Heritage Sites Journal \u00abArchaeology in Bhutan\u00bb, an initiative by the Ministry of Culture. The volume offers a comprehensive documentation of the project, including an introduction to the project by Eberhard Fischer (2006\u201313), reports on the Drapham Dzong excavation (2008\u201310), Sangkha rescue excavation (2011), Bumthang valley Survey (2012), Obtsho Dzong inventory and documentation (2012), Chubjakha Dzong documentation (2013\u201314) as well as several smaller site visits and object surveys. The setup of a national Archaeology Section under the Division for Conservation of Heritage Sites (DCHS) in 2014 is an important step in the institutional cooperation.<\/p>\n

Fal\u00e9m\u00e9 – Senegal and Mali<\/h4>\n

Im Projektjahr 2014 wurden zwei Kampagnen durchgef\u00fchrt. Die drei ersten Wochen dienten einer ausgedehnten Prospektion des oberen Talbereiches. Eine Gruppe von zwei bis sechs Personen erkundete die Flussufer in einem rund f\u00fcnfzehn Kilometer langen Bereich zwischen den D\u00f6rfern Sansand\u00e9 im S\u00fcden und Missira im Norden. Dabei kombinierten sie zwei Surveymethoden: Einerseits gingen die Forscher streng nach einem Kartenraster vor, andererseits liessen sie sich von den lokalen und ortskundigen Mitarbeitern f\u00fchren. Nicht weniger als 145 neue Pl\u00e4tze konnten so identifiziert werden. Es handelt sich um lokale Konzentrationen oder weite Streuungen von arch\u00e4ologischen Oberfl\u00e4chenfunden sowie Schichtablagerungen. Die ethnohistorischen und ethnoarch\u00e4ologischen Untersuchungen wurden dieses Jahr Fluss aufw\u00e4rts in den Nachbard\u00f6rfern von Khossanto im Gebiet des alten K\u00f6nigreiches B\u00e9l\u00e9dougou sowie in den D\u00f6rfern bei Toumboura, im Kerngebiet des K\u00f6nigreiches Boundou, durchgef\u00fchrt. Die Untersuchungen erlauben die Migrationsdynamiken entlang des Fal\u00e9m\u00e9-Flusses nachzuvollziehen und die Geschichte der historischen Provinzen zu untersuchen, von der wir noch kaum etwas wissen.<\/p>\n

Turkmenistan – Gonur Depe<\/h4>\n

Das neue SLSA-Projekt am h\u00f6chst bedeutsamen Siedlungsfundort Gonur Depe in der Margiana wird von Mirko Nov\u00e1k (Universit\u00e4t Bern) geleitet. Die Feldarbeiten vor Ort werden von Sylvia Winkelmann-Witkowsky (assoziierte Forscherin, Universit\u00e4t Bern) durchgef\u00fchrt. Bis anhin haben russische Ausgrabungen Funde zutage gebracht, die weitreichende Kontakte und den aussergew\u00f6hnlichen Reichtum dieser einst in einer Oase im Delta des Murghab gelegenen Stadt der sogenannten murghabo-baktrischen Kultur (ca. 2400 \u2013 1700 v. Chr.) bezeugen. Das Projekt hat zum Ziel, die weitgehend noch unbekannte urbane Entwicklung von Gonur Depe verstehen zu lernen. Extensive Gel\u00e4ndebegehungen aber auch geophysikalische Messungen sowie strategisch angelegte Grabungsschnitte sollen feinstratigrafische Untersuchungen und Datierungen erlauben. W\u00e4hrend die diesj\u00e4hrigen geophysikalischen und geomatischen Arbeiten von anderen Partnern finanziert worden sind, bilden die \u00fcber mehrere Jahre geplanten Ausgrabungen ein in sich geschlossenes und eigenst\u00e4ndiges SLSA-Projekt.<\/p>\n
